There are twenty-four samyukta or joined-hand hastas, which function is to denote 24 Lunar fortnights of the Year or Prajapati. In Vedic philosophy of Time Prajapati is the Father of all other personificated time periods into which the Year can be subdivided. He is the God of all Lunar chronometric Time units such as moths, Lunar fortnights (pakshas), days and nights (tithis), Lunar hours (muhurtas), half-hours (nadikas) and a number of smaller time units.

Who is God?

English word "God" comes from Russian "god" meaning "Year". The Russian "god" comes from Sanskrit "Go-da" ("Giving rays and Lunar days").

The very word "Year" (German Jahr) comes from Russian "Яр" (jar) and Sanskrit "Arya" "ardent, fiery".

Russian "Ярый" (jaryj) means "ardent, fiery" and comes from Sanskrit "arya" ("ardent, fiery" folower of Indra, Lunar god of the second Full Moon day).

Russian "Яровой" (jarovoj) and "Ярило" (jarilo) mean "vernal" and comes from Sanskrit "Aryaman" (Lunar god of Spring).

Russian "Яркий" (jarkyj) means "bright, shining, luminous" and comes from Sanskrit "arka" meaning "ardent, luminous vernal Sun".
