Bharatanatyam dancer

My passion for dance has turned into major professional interest. The study of dance in India, Egypt, Spain and Belarus gave me the opportunity to enlarge my knowledge of different cultures and peoples.

The history of dance like the culture itself is very ancient. The most famous and ancient manual of theatre and dance is known as Natya-Shastra, that is “Manual of Drama” in Sanskrit.

This manual propounded a fascinating idea of harmony of Art and Nature, Dance techniques and exact Sciences. Dance and Music, Form and Sound interact in inseparable union with Time and Measure, depicting movements of the Stars.

KALA-YATRA

All cultures want to have the merit of being the one that gave rise to the development of dance. Though we have no information of their exact origin, we can give only an idea...
Each ancient civilization has left us beautiful and mysterious monuments. A lot of them had been lost for ever and some still remain to be discovered and desiphered.
Sanskrit scholars are lucky to have at their disposal the most valuable ancient texts - the Vedas - including extensive literature on art, dance, music and theater.
The text on theater called Natyashastra by Bharta Muni contains a detailed description of the celestial Apsara dance. In antiquity, it was performed in temples. Bharatanatyam was the earthly representation of the movements of planets. This new astronomical perspective gives us a new impetus to the interpretation of Vedic civilization, the importance of theater and dance and, in particular, its influence on European culture. Though the historians can not describe the origin of flamenco dance, lets try together to find some relevant answers going through the most significant pages of dance history.
